Chemistry of Compelling Communication Series

Science skills need communication savvy to move in and out of the lab.

The Chemistry of Compelling Communication is a custom invention created to provide tools that connect, engage, and compel others to value you – and your story.

This story began in 2019 and would not exist without Dr. Cathy Clarke, the first woman to Chair Chemistry & Biochemisty at UCLA, and her Centennial Graduation ceremony. She invited UCLA alum, Dr. Mike Varney, to do the commencement speech. I attended as Dr. Varney’s coach, and on the spot, Dr. Clarke recruited me to share The Zone Method with UCLA.

I created the “Chemistry of Compelling Communication” series as a means for sharing Zone tools to boost their visibility, showcase them as a leader, and leverage their ability to influence.

For the series launch, I invited Zone Alum and colleague, Dr. Wendy Young, to share her career story, Adventures in Drug Hunting, highlighting the impact Zone Method tools have on leveraging her path as a leader and chemist. Dr. Young’s career spans leadership in pharma, biotech, academia, publishing, and venture capital. In 2019, she was named one of the ‘Top Twenty Extraordinary Women in Biopharma’ by Endpoint News. In 2024, she was inducted into the ACS Hall of Fame for career achievements.

Stories create relationships. Relationships create life-changing opportunities to show up and Be You Smartly.

This is the promise of The Zone Method.
